Netflix has stopped production of the tennis documentary Break Point after two seasons. The underwhelming series has lagged behind its equivalents in Formula One and golf in terms of viewing figures and access. A missed opportunity for the sport. thetimes.co.uk/article/netfli…
Netflix should have secured some bigger names, the upcoming ones seem good but not …had we gotten some Nadal one season and Djoker another season…that would have secured the ratings, even doing a recent retiree would have been good…a mom coming back…the vision was too small
Yes a missed opportunity. You don’t need the big 3 to make a compelling show. Look at Drive. Even teams at the bottom like Haas had characters you were rooting for. I’ve also seen better tennis footage in YouTube than in this show.
Definitely a missed opportunity, tennis players are very competitive hence the result.
only second and third tier players featured. Nothing worse than third party embarrassment for the viewer.
Every time I watched it I realized how much more excited watching an actual match would have been. A bit of a fail but it was promising! They should have left significant others out of it and just focused on the players and the sport.
if you doing 2022 season and Iga Świątek has HALF of episode, you are doing it wrong ;) it was one of the best run of WTA EVER, one of the best periods of women’s sport history and they choice Ajla and Mateo 🤪 it was a choice (now they are 3 breakups later and nobody cares xD)
Not enough interesting personalities. Not about manufactured personalities, but true personalities like the Williams Sisters. Very compelling story, charismatic, fighters, barrier breakers, outsiders. Not many like that on tour.
Compared to the first series the 2nd was poor. It’s the personalities that are needed. Not the big names. The producers failed to realise this. I don’t play or like golf but I really enjoyed the golf equivalent to Break Point.
I watched a two episodes and unfortunately it was not compelling enough & there was nothing really to pull you in and stick around
They chose players to follow and no Iga, Djokovic, Sinner, Rybakina, Medvedev, minimal Coco, Alcaraz. But the Zverev ep was a huge and biased turnoff. Sabalenka was their only big winner. Do their other sports shows follow individuals in the same way?
